SUMMARY:W.I. Fine Art Studio: Kathy Anderson workshop
DESCRIPTION:Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio: Kathy Anderson workshop. Flower Painting Outside and in the Studio. This 3 day workshop will consist of some plein air days in some of Whidbey Island’s  beautiful gardens\, and also one or two  studio days.  Kathy will show you how to simplify a flower scene with big shapes and a strong block-in. Kathy will demo in the morning\, and the students will paint in the afternoon.  On the second day\, we will return to the site and Kathy will demo on how to finish a painting from the block-in.  The students will either work on the same painting or start a new one\, whichever they prefer. For the studio day\, Kathy will again demo\, with the focus on how to design a floral still life that has a fresh and natural look with lots of movement. The students then will set up their own still-lifes in the afternoon. We’ll talk about how to finish the painting using digital images\, or how to set up again at home. \n​

DESCRIPTION:Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio: Kenny Harris workshop. The Figure in the Environment. We will learn how to bring together work from life\, from studies\, and from photos to create convincing paintings of a figure in an environment. We will first work in the field to create an oil study from life of an external environment.  We will then move inside and work with the model from life.  Using our oil sketch and photos for our environment reference\, we will place the figure in a believable space.   A unified palette will bring cohesion to the picture.  I will demo both in the field and from the model\, as well as help everyone hands-on to bring expression and control to their figurative work.  \n​

DESCRIPTION:The Board of Commissioners of the Port District of South Whidbey Island will be convening a Special Meeting at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday\, June 28\, 2018\, in the Port office conference room located at 1804 Scott Road in Freeland. The primary purpose of the Special Meeting will be for the Commission to address the items in the attached Draft Agenda \, and public participation is not on the agenda.  In addition\, the Commissioners will hold a public Work Session.  Work Sessions are public meetings that provide an opportunity in an informal workshop format for the Board to review and discuss general Port business.  No actions will be taken during the Work Session. \n  \nIt should be noted that the next regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners is scheduled for Tuesday\, July 10th at 6:30 p.m. in Grigware Hall of Trinity Lutheran Church at 18341 WA-525\, Freeland\, WA\, (note this is the older church building right on the highway) and that Meeting will include public participation.

DESCRIPTION:Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio: Mike Hernandez instruct a 3-day workshop\, and will cover the important fundamentals of composition\, color relationships\, lighting\, atmospheric perspective\, simplification and shape design through the use of gouache. This is a great workshop for any artist that would like to learn how to capture a sense of natural and or stylized lighting/color into their work. \nMike will start off the 3-day workshop with a  lecture on Sunday  morning and demos in the afternoon\, covering color\, composition design\, lighting design\, simplification and atmospheric perspective. Lecture will include still digital images. Day two and three will be a full session of outdoor painting. \nMike will go around and give hands on instruction during the class.
