DESCRIPTION:JENNIFER GENNARI\n\n\nPainting the animal portrait \n​April 14 – 16 \n$625 \nSkill level: all levels \n​ \nWorkshop is full – email admin@whidbeyislandfas.com to be put on the wait list \n​ \nIn this three-day course\, you will learn not only the traditional method of establishing value\, and exploring color\, but also what to look for in your subject that will breathe an extra bit of life into the portrait. \n\nIn this workshop we will work in an alla prima style where students will learn the stages of oil painting.  The process will be streamlined to expertly capture and maintain the strongest impression of the subject as possible\, in the fastest time possible. \n\nStudents will be welcomed to the course with a painting demo and Q&A followed by a day of painting.  A nice balance will be maintained through the workshop of allowing the freedom to work and explore individually\, and tight supervision so you’ll always feel comfortable and confident. \n\n Students will bring their own images of the portraits that they’d like to paint \n\n  \n  \n

Instead of struggling with overworking your paintings\, practice STOPPING SOONER to keep the freshness you crave in your work! \nWorking with a split-primary palette of six colors and white\, explore how creating quick studies and using bigger brushes can loosen up your paintings. Learn the fundamentals of composition design\, and walk step-by-step through Sarah’s alla prima process\, creating a dynamic still life from start to finish! \nSarah will demonstrate\, and work with each student individually.
