UPDATES & CORRECTIONS – There has been a delay in starting construction and the new date is projected to be Feb 24th. We have also updated this release to reflect the accuracy of the type of power outlets at each site.
Langley, WA – The Port of South Whidbey is pleased to announce that a significant remodel of our campground is projected to begin on February 24th. This project aims to enhance our facilities by replacing the aging infrastructure with modern and safe RV hookups.
The remodel will involve the upgrade of electrical pedestals used for electricity at each campsite, as well as the installation of new water lines. Western Refinery Services has been awarded the construction contract and will oversee the project to ensure a safe and efficient completion.
The project will kick off with the installation of a new water main connecting the main campus of the Fairgrounds to the campground. Following this, workers will trench the campground area to install new water spigots at each campsite. A new fire hydrant will also be installed near the log show area for added safety.
Next, 20 new electrical pedestals will be installed, featuring 30 amp, and 20 amp outlets on all posts and seven posts with 50 amp outlets to accommodate the needs of all our campers.
Safety remains our top priority during this construction period. We kindly ask our community members who regularly use the fairgrounds and campgrounds to be aware that campground gates will be closed at various times for their safety. We will do our best to limit these closures, but they are necessary while heavy equipment is in operation.
Additionally, we will strive to keep the dump station open as much as possible during the remodeling; however, there may be intermittent closures due to ongoing work related to water line replacements.
The goal is to complete this project by the end of March, allowing us to reopen the campground in time for the busy season of events and camping.
