**Campground at Whidbey Island Fairgrounds Will Reopen with Exciting Upgrades**

The Port of South Whidbey and Whidbey Island Fairgrounds and Event Center are thrilled to announce the reopening of their campground after a six-week construction period. The campground is set to welcome visitors back starting early Monday, April 14th.

One of the most significant changes is the introduction of an online reservation and payment system through the website ‘Roverpass’. Campers can now easily select and reserve their sites, similar to how one would book a vacation rental through platforms like Airbnb. This advancement aims to streamline the booking process and enhance the overall camping experience. Please note we will no longer be accepting cash at the campground registration kiosk. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

In addition to the new reservation system, the campground is excited to welcome Mark and Andrea as the new campground hosts. They will reside on-site to assist guests and maintain the grounds. With their extensive experience as campground hosts, Mark and Andrea look forward to meeting guests and sharing stories around the campsite.

The campground now features seven premium sites situated along the front of the grounds, offering stunning views of the horse arena and Saratoga Passage. These premium campsites come equipped with 50amp, 30amp, and 20amp electrical receptacles, as well as frost-free water hydrants. Additionally, 13 more campsites will provide 30amp and 20amp options along with water hookups. For those who prefer tent camping, a designated area without electrical hookups will still provide access to drinking water. Pricing for the premium sites has increased to $45 per night, while all other sites will be available for $35 per night. Stays are limited to 14 days, and a dump station is accessible to the public for $5 per use.

In conjunction with the reopening, Port and Fairgrounds staff will focus on landscaping and seeding the newly leveled ground. Emphasizing the use of native plants and water-loving species will not only beautify the area and help improve drainage but also support pollinators, benefiting the overall ecosystem. Campers are encouraged to tread lightly while new plants take root.

Stay tuned for further announcements regarding the official plans for a grand opening event this summer.

CAMPGROUND IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR CONSTRUCTION – 2/24/2025

Langley, WA – The Port of South Whidbey is pleased to announce that a significant remodel of our campground is projected to begin on February 24th. This project aims to enhance our facilities by replacing the aging infrastructure with modern and safe RV hookups.

The remodel will involve the upgrade of electrical pedestals used for electricity at each campsite, as well as the installation of new water lines. Western Refinery Services has been awarded the construction contract and will oversee the project to ensure a safe and efficient completion.

The project will kick off with the installation of a new water main connecting the main campus of the Fairgrounds to the campground. Following this, workers will trench the campground area to install new water spigots at each campsite. A new fire hydrant will also be installed near the log show area for added safety.

Next, 20 new electrical pedestals will be installed, featuring 30 amp, and 20 amp outlets on all posts and seven posts with 50 amp outlets to accommodate the needs of all our campers.

Safety remains our top priority during this construction period. We kindly ask our community members who regularly use the fairgrounds and campgrounds to be aware that campground gates will be closed at various times for their safety. We will do our best to limit these closures, but they are necessary while heavy equipment is in operation.

Additionally, we will strive to keep the dump station open as much as possible during the remodeling; however, there may be intermittent closures due to ongoing work related to water line replacements.

The goal is to complete this project by the end of March, allowing us to reopen the campground in time for the busy season of events and camping.

For updates and photos of the progress, please follow the Whidbey Island Fairgrounds & Events Center on Facebook.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our campground facilities. We are excited to embark on this project!
