Whidbey Island Fine Art Studio: Kathy Anderson workshop. Flower Painting Outside and in the Studio. This 3 day workshop will consist of some plein air days in some of Whidbey Island’s beautiful gardens, and also one or two studio days. Kathy will show you how to simplify a flower scene with big shapes and a strong block-in. Kathy will demo in the morning, and the students will paint in the afternoon. On the second day, we will return to the site and Kathy will demo on how to finish a painting from the block-in. The students will either work on the same painting or start a new one, whichever they prefer. For the studio day, Kathy will again demo, with the focus on how to design a floral still life that has a fresh and natural look with lots of movement. The students then will set up their own still-lifes in the afternoon. We’ll talk about how to finish the painting using digital images, or how to set up again at home.
