Langley, WA – The Whidbey Island Fairgrounds and Port of South Whidbey are excited to announce the “Bring the Light – Winter Solstice Gathering” event, taking place on December 21st from 4 pm until 8 pm in and around the Turner Building at the Fairgrounds.
This free community event invites everyone to come together on the longest night of the year to celebrate and bring light to the darkness. Attendees are encouraged to wear illuminated costumes, LEDs, glowsticks, headlamps, and any other light source to add to the festive atmosphere. The evening will feature live music from the community group SOUND MACHINE HONK! BAND, as well as original and creative tunes from Puff n’ Scrubb.
Whidbey Ren Faire will bring two real live mermaids for attendees to meet, and Lady Klinkerbell, Krampus of Whidbey Island will be here for you to have your photo taken with her in her lair. Chef in the Black Bandana will provide hot food and attendees are welcome to bring their drums to join in the drum circle.
“Bring the Light – Winter Solstice Gathering” is a family-friendly and alcohol-free event, and all are welcome to attend. While a suggested donation of $10 will be accepted at the door, no one will be turned away for a lack of funds.
“We are excited to bring the community together for this special event and celebrate the winter solstice,” said David Stern, Marketing & Events Coordinator at Whidbey Island Fairgrounds & Events Center. “This is a great opportunity for everyone to come out, have some fun, and enjoy the company of their neighbors.”
